Scene 6
EXT. TUNNEL
The Imp is standing over a BLOODY CORPSE.
FULL SHOT – THE IMP and the CORPSE.
The corpse is in the foreground of the shot, on the floor, and the Imp is in the background, standing over it.
MUSIC CUE – PULSING, GROWLING SYNTH CHORDS
The Imp stares blankly at the corpse and then moves forward, toward the camera, about three paces.
It looks up.
POV LONG SHOT – MANNY’S BEDROOM WINDOW
A SQUARE OPENING in the access tunnel roof gives way to an AIRSHAFT; the Imp looks through this in order to view the WINDOW. A LIGHT is on in the window.
ANGLE ON THE IMP
As it notices a PIPE leading up from the floor of the access tunnel, along the WALL OF THE BUILDING, and up toward the window.
It moves toward the pipe.
CU – THE IMP’S HANDS
As they wrap around the pipe and begin to climb it.
Scene 7
INT. ETHAN’S FLAT/ LIVING ROOM – NIGHT
Ethan sits on the couch, eating popcorn and watching TV.
He begins to look bored and impatient.
He gets up and exits the living room.
INT. MANNY’S BEDROOM
Manny crosses the room and retrieves a HALF-SMOKED JOINT from an ASHTRAY.
He picks up a LIGHTER in that same vicinity and sparks the joint.
He crosses to the bed and flops down on it, smoking.
EXT. BACK DOOR OF ETHAN’S FLAT
Ethan opens the door and stands on the landing, looking down the stairs toward the dumpster.
Imp of Satan (2008)
ETHAN
Jasper! What the fuck is taking so long?
MEDIUM SHOT – MANNY ON HIS BED, SIDE VIEW
As he smokes, the Imp’s hand reaches in from the open window.
CU – MANNY
The shadow of the hand passes over his face, and he looks up, startled.
He screams.
LOW ANGLE CU – THE IMP’S HAND
It swoops toward the CAMERA.
EXT. ETHAN’S FLAT/ BACK LANDING
Ethan wheels around at the sound of Manny’s scream.
SERIES OF SHOTS – MANNY AND THE IMP
Manny struggles with the Imp as it grips his face, pulling the creature in through the window. They tussle about on the bed, the Imp slashing him viciously. Finally the Imp grabs Manny by the hair, lifts him up, and puts it claws through his eyes with a deft stabbing motion.
INT. KITCHEN
Ethan is on the landing, looking back into his flat through the open back door.
He walks slowly and cautiously into the kitchen, CAMERA MOVING with him.
ETHAN
Manny? Manny, are you all right?
MUSIC CUE – SLOW PULSING BEAT
The LIGHTS FLICKER. Ethan looks up and his face registers a creeping dread.
SOUND EFFECT – RIPPING, SQUISHING NOISES
Like an animal ripping apart its prey. It comes from the hallway that leads to Manny’s room.
CU – ETHAN
His eyes are fixed in the direction of the hallway.
Lights continue to flicker.
He smells something awful, and wrinkles his nose in disgust.
ETHAN
What the fuck is going on?
The LIGHTS GO OUT.
The noises stop.
Ethan’s eyes go wide with fright.
